Vine to Wine Adventures

Traditional family winemaking is an art. It is an experience that begins with planting and caring for the vines, engaging the soil and the sun, choosing just the right moment to harvest each varietal of grape, then using science, wine wisdom and taste to craft the perfect bottle of wine. Does this happen in Italy and France? Of course. But it also happens in small local wineries all over America. Thousands of them, using both antique and new equipment, and using age old techniques. And now you can experience, first hand, this amazing and sumptuous transition from the vine to wine.

Spend a few days working the vines.  Learn viticulture from the experts. What does a Cabernet Franc grape look like? Why did the winemaker want the leaves thinned more for the Sauvignon Blanc vines than for the Chardonnay? And what did it really feel like when Lucy stomped on those grapes?

Spend time in the winery. What makes grapes into wine? Help pump the juice into oak barrels and stainless steel. Help the winemaker as he coaxes along the fermentation process. Help with tasting and blending the wines for the perfect result. Have a hand in the bottling and labeling process. In our local wineries, these are not factory automated activities…they are done the old fashioned way, by hand!  This is a Hands-On experience where you will participate as much as you want. Have fun! Your appreciation of wine, and the stories you’ll be able to tell your friends, will be enhanced tenfold!

The cost for your Adventure is $150.00 per day, per person. This includes all winery activities, education, wine tasting and lunch. We offer a 20% discount per day if you book two or more days.
